On August 9, 2008, Fredy Villanueva, an 18 year-old Montrealer was shot dead by officer Jean-Loup Lapointe of the Montreal Police as he was playing dice with his friends in a park in the Montreal Nord neighborhood. This police murder lead to a night of rioting in Montreal Nord's streets. Hundreds of youth, enraged by police harassment, racism, and the police killing their friends lit the streets ablaze.

Now, one year later, there has been little justice rendered to the Villanueva family, nor to the other 2 youth who were shot and injured by the police during the same incident. Officer Lapointe remains on the beat, and tensions still boil between cops and youth in Montreal Nord.

CKUT, a radio station proudly committed to amplifying the voices of those resisting police impunity, brings you very special coverage to mark the occasion. This roundtable discussion features our special guests:

*Will Prosper, Montreal Nord Republik

*Anita Schoepp, Project X

*Hosted by CKUT's Aaron Lakoff
